Courage
in the Midst of Economic Crisis
I have
a question: Is God in control? Is God surprised by the coming global economic
crisis?
Let me
put it this way – When God saved Noah from the flood, was He surprised by the flood?
Of course not. Was he in control of the flood? Of course; in fact, He was the one who sent it. What about
during the time of Lot. When He saved Lot from the fire and brimstone that fell from heaven to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, was God surprised by the fire that fell from heaven? Or was God in control of the fire? He
was in control! In fact, it was He who sent it.
So now
I ask again: Is God surprised by the floods, typhoons, earthquakes, tsunami, famine, or even the present economic crisis? He is not! He is in control. In fact, I believe He is the one who sends these things. God
sends disasters not against his beloved children but against the sinners of the world.
God knows how to save his children in the midst of disaster or economic crisis.
Just as He saved Noah from the flood or Lot from the fire that fell from heaven, so He can save you from the impending
economic crisis.
Now, here
is the beautiful thing – This God who is in control of all these calamities, this God who saved Noah from the great
flood and Lot from the fire and brimstone, is your very own Heavenly Father
and He loves you dearly!
Even during
economic crisis, believe what the Bible says, “In all things God works for the good of those who love him.” (Romans
8:28) God did not send the present economic crisis to destroy His children, but
to bless them. The crisis is there to punish the wicked as well as to show God’s
people how much God loves them and how powerful He is to save His own children.

Rex'
Thoughts
I just
did a "Work Attitude and Value Enhancement" program with focus on Leadership for Panasonic Corporation. The Foundation
for Asian Management Development (FMAD) of Japan and Panasonic
Regional Training Center
sponsored the program. 17 employees attended and 12 persons from outside the company were invited to join. It
is part of their corporate social responsibility.
I am
glad that we still have a few manufacturing companies like Panasonic remaining in our country. I believe that manufacturing
is the backbone of industrialization. I am sad that the only investments we attract in our country nowadays are
just call centers where the turnover of employees and demoralization are so fast.
I will
be going to Singapore on July 24 to help
the Filipino community begin the Professional Life Group. There are many Filipino expat managers, technical people as
well as domestics who are working there. They work hard but express a lot of loneliness being away from their families..
So we are organizing this Professional Group to give them career counseling, professional growth and balanced life.
The goal is to have total personal human development - people need not only jobs and income, but also social, emotional, physical
and spiritual growth.. We have successfully done this for various cities in the Philippines
- Manila, Quezon City, Makati
City, Mandaluyong, Iloilo, Cebu and Davao. Now we want to do it for the Filipino community in Singapore. This is volunteer work for me. I want to share my expertise
to benefit others.
I continue
to conduct entrepreneurship training using the GET (Gender and Entrepreneurship Together) Ahead and CEFE approaches.
The demand in my country for this kind of training is so big. I just finished an "Entrepreneurship Counseling" program
for our Department of Labor and Employment. I used the CEFE Model. Because of the scarcity of formal employment
nowadays, the thrust of our government now is to promote entrepreneurship.
